Vaccination Guidelines

Multivalent vaccines:

a family portraitVaccines incorporate combinations of the following agents: Distemper (D), Hepatitis (A2), Parainfluenza (P), Parvo (P), and Corona (CV) viruses and Leptospira (L) bacterin. All vaccines are administered subcutaneously.

Puppies presented between 6 and < 8 weeks of age should receive DA2PP-CV initially, followed by DA2PPL-CV every 3-4 weeks until 16-18 weeks of age, then annually.

Puppies 8 weeks and older at initial presentation should receive DA2PPL-CV every 3-4 weeks until 16-18 weeks of age, then annually.

Dogs vaccinated for the first time after 16 weeks of age, or unknown vaccination status should receive 2 doses of DA2PPL-CV, 2 to 3 weeks apart.

Rabies

First vaccination may be given at 12 weeks of age.   Revaccinate in 1 year, then as long as vaccine status remains current, vaccine can be given every 3 years.

General Principles of Immunization Therapy

Puppies and kittens should be protected from animals of unknown vaccination
status until after their vaccination series has been completed.

Vaccines should not be administered to pregnant or severely debilitated
animals.

bullet

Rabies vaccine should not be administered to any wild animals (raccoons,
etc.).
